Not that which I am, but that which I seek to be.
Going to a wedding I have grey Houndstooth Check Sport Jacket; which I want to wear with a black pair of dress pants. My date is wearing a navy blue dress, what color combo shirt and tie would you suggest.Anonymous

I apologize for not getting back to you sooner on this. If it’s not too late, i’d suggest a blue, like a bright blue, tie. Shirt should be white, perhaps with subtle stripes.
I really like this ensemble.
- Heavy wool trousers with a textured nap and big cuffs.
- Grey, single-breasted, flannel wool blazer.
- Tattersall button-up shirt.
- Brown wool tie with white pindots.
- Brown wool scarf with red and yellow detailing.
- Drab olive green, military-inspired, field jacket with removable down vest.
- And last, but not least, brown suede shoes.
I might have opted for a different color scarf, perhaps dark red, just so there isn’t so much brown, but it’s an otherwise really nice fall look. The wools give it a lot of texture, the tattersall shirt is unique but not overpowering, and military field jacket makes for a nice contrast. Great stuff.

The Brogue shoe is definetely the kind of shoe i adore, the unique history of sucess of itself is a legacy in menswear and this model of Tenue De Nimes has just the perfect balance for a wingtip as much as in color as in material, as a huge fan of nubuck leather for it´s smoothness as well.

Grenson X Tenue De Nimes Wingtip Brogue
“The wingtip brogue was originally a country shoe and has been part of English shoemaking heritage for well over 100 years. The brogue has long since migrated to the city and this one is very elegant with its grey nubuck upper and contrasting white eyelets and laces. Tenue de Nîmes finished it off with a hand painted, double leather white sole. The shoes are marked with a combination of the Grenson ‘rose’ and the Tenue de Nîmes ‘cross’ embossed on the in- and outsole. Purchase the limited edition Wingtips online now.”
Grey suede cannot be beat.
